A nice evening, lightish, F2 E. It was Low tide but there seemed to be a current running across the bay from the oil jetty to the culmore shore – neither up or down river but across the way! Any answers?

F2/3 W. A fine evening. Interesting course up the river to a mark in the channel near the top of the dockyard. Very tricky first lap with strong tide forcing a return course where we made multiple short tacks hugging the dock jetty to keep out of the tide.

Earlier in the day we welcomed Mary Farrell the development officer for the RYA (NI) who came to visit us on a fact finding mission.

GP14 event in 2011

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

LFYC is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a GP14 association of Ireland National event in 2011. This will be the first major sailing event in LFYC for some considerable time and it is a great development for the club and for sailing on Lough Foyle.

A beautiful sunny day. Suncream and t shirts. Starting with no wind, then light winds, then a nice sailing breeze. A big oil tanker landed at the power station in the middle of race one.

Cold wet and windy. A great day sailing, some very fast reaching. Many thanks to Liam/Beth for timekeeping and Roy for rescuing. 2 MOB’s and a crash (more of a bump, not  too serious) and 2 capsizes.

Very light winds to start of with, with a very tricky windward mark near the shore in the lee of trees. Wind picked up. Great to see Ken D out again, and still very crafty.
