Lough Foyle Yacht Club

Culmore regatta on this weekend, all welcome. Punt racing, Open PY dinghy racing, rowing, tae, coffee and food, oul chat and good crack. The hotly contested Junior helm race is on this thursday night at 7.
The Lough Foyle Punts race tonight, friday at 7 and saturday at 11 in the Culmore Regatta. Dont miss the opportunity to see these wonderful traditional boats being raced to the limit.
The dinghy races (Open PY, everyone welcome) will start after the Punts on saturday. Why not come down for the whole day and enjoy the crack.

Start at mark near slipway up to mark in Bay, Harts, Powerstation, Conniborrow. Faughan and through the line X2. Wind F3 & dropping, no rain but quite chilly. Flying start by the Kevin L/James L but later hampered by some spinnaker problems. Good duel between Ken L & Keith L, Dermot out in front, Gareth with new crew today.

LFYC Handicap notes: Gareth G/John McG have been awarded a handicap of 1185

Just two boats raced today. Anthony G/Todd S in their Scorpion, Kevin T in his Laser. A three lap race was held in Culmore Bay with the windward mark at Harts. Wind was intially very strong but blew down nicely for the laser. Kevin T crossed the line first by 18seconds but lost out when the LFYC handicaps were applied.

Port course up to Faughan, Conneyburrow, Clarkes Mark x2. Bit more wind tonight, F2+ E, but very damp on our arrival at Club, after some discussion enough enthusiasm was built up to launch, and Kevin/Liam and George D (rescue boat) kindly ran the race. Bill J and Ken D had good race together, and only the timely advice of George gave Bill J’s GP boat the edge at the end.

LFYC handicap notes: Ken D/Beth H handicap has been revised to 1160

Racing today was cancelled due to high winds.

Culmore Bay course, ”beat” up to Mckennas, Harts, Power Station and through Line for lap 2 which never happened as wind fell off from f1 to variable nil, it did revive but after Bill J/James J retired.
